This is my awesome Dad. Let me tell you a few reasons why he's awesome... he always has the answer (even if I don't like the answer he has it), can make "I saw a Bear" the best musical number of the year, always lets me know I'm his storm & he loves me, can turn a evening on the farm into a "dynamite" experience and finally (not the last thing but the reason for this post) he recently sent a video of a family/neighborhood tradition the Pumpkin blow to Country Fried Video's on CMT. It is now on the air, episode 403. It is now one of the top things Bill Engval wants to do before he dies, that is how totally awesome it is! This video reminds me of the many reasons I love my dad, mom and the wonderful neighborhood I grew up in. Sweet X 2

Tonight after work Mark was a sweet husband and took me out for a sweet, ice cream! It was so delicious, and the perfect thing for the end of a long day at work. Having 5 days off work than having a crazy Monday yesterday made today really long and hard. Mark always knows how to make me smile after a long day by making sure I feel loved and special... chocolate and swirl ice cream always help. I love my hubby! Isn't he cute with his melting ice cream!

What the!!

Tonight we decided to go for a bike ride and take some stuff to Matthew and Kristin, wouldn't you know it the wind decided to blow tonight at dusk for the first time in what seems like forever. After fighting the wind to their house we realized the sun was setting faster than anticipated so with no break to breathe we peddled back towards home. At this point the wind really picked up, thank goodness for a sweet husband who tried to make a wind break for me and walked with me when I thought I was going to throw up from pushing myself so hard. We finally made it home, after dark... don't yell at us Mom's we stayed in well lit areas with light clothing on and we learned to watch the sun more carefully. There is a large light in our yard that wasn't shining when we finally got close enough to see it, thinking that was odd we hurried and locked up our bikes than walked to the car port, no light there either so by cell phone light we got the door unlocked. To shorten the story no power. So we called Rocky Mtn power company, they told us we must be under Logan city power because they didn't have our house on record. So we called Logan city and they sent someone out, here's a huge shout out thank you to Logan city for being so quick to respond. At this point we decided to find something to do, Mark decided to teach me a new game he settled on chess so we got it set up and Logan city arrived. Mark and the worker walked around the property than come to find out we weren't under their service but Rocky Mtn power like we originally thought. So we called them back and they finally found us in the system, the power was out for an undetermined amount of time. So back to the chess game... I totally don't get the game, someday I might but don't hold your breath. Finally at 5 till 11 the alarm system beeped, we had power!! So we hurried to start our air conditioner so our room would cool down so a good nights sleep might happen. We have now reset all the clocks and are enjoying the cool air from a fan and hoping our bedroom has cooled down so we are off to bed. Have a peaceful night everyone. Talk to you later. M & Em

New Calling

We taught our first lesson as Marriage & Family relationship teachers today. We split the lesson up half and half. My husband does such a good job teaching and making it so you understand the lesson, I try and think I'm getting better. The lesson was on facing challenges in marriage, at first it seemed intimidating than we started just talking about how we handle things and it turned into a lesson. It's so fun to have a calling side by side, especially when we get to learn together. I have no pictures to show my cute husband teaching, but I promise he looked really cute! I am so thankful for this calling, I think it will help us become closer. Hope you all had a great Sunday.

Wonderful, Amazing and Worth Every Dollar!

We just returned from the Opera 1776, we took Mark's little sister for her birthday. I wish you could all go and experience this opera. Before hand all I knew it was about the signing of the constitution hence the title of opera 1776, after I have a new found pride for being an American. The show started with the presentation of the flag by 2 veterans of our current war followed by the Pledge of Allegiance lead by a veteran who returned home about a month ago. The orchestra than started with national anthem, at this point seeing troops who are currently serving our country and reciting words the Pledge & Anthem made me so grateful to be living in this great and FREE country. I am not going to say much about the actual show, you can read it in a history book or see the opera. The struggles and fights that surrounded the creation of this country brought many emotions to the surface of pride to be living here today and a deep thankfulness to the founding fathers for not giving up when things got tough, because they sure did. After the show we ran into one of Em's friend who played Lyman Hall, he brought up a good point that with all the political confusion right now it's nice to see what our country was founded on and get back to the basics. This brought up a good challenge for me and I pass it on to all of you, take time and study what this country was founded on before you check a box at the upcoming election, and if you get a chance see 1776.

Love days off!!

I had the day off due to my Doc being on vacation so we took the opportunity to play. The other Emily came up and we went to Bear Lake to meet Aunt Camille, Nat, Robert & Ryan. We had a great time. Enjoy the show....

Answer to a question...

You know how in all those "get to know you" surveys there is always the one question of what TV show you always watch, I hate that question. I never have an answer, I'm a channel surfer (Mark will back me up on that) I can't handle watching one show at a time well that is until I found

This show makes me laugh so hard that at times it is actually hard to breathe, and I usually miss the next funny commentary. It on ABC at 7pm on Tuesday nights. I found it by accident looking up something on ABC.com and now I am totally addicted. I watch it every week and if I can't watch it on TV I just watch it on the computer. The greatness of technology!! If you are ever in the need of a good laugh I suggest you watch it.
Guess I should explain the below picture, the idea of the show is to beat a giant obstacle course that would give me nightmares if I had to cross. Certain challenges change from week to week, but the giant red balls always stay (pictured below). Okay now I'm telling you to much, you just need to watch it to experience the joy. Mark's sister Emily agrees it is hilarious!

Cheap Transportation = Great Exercise

Hey all this is Mark today. So Emily and I decided to go and spend some serious money today, so we went down to Al's Sporting Goods ("We don't want everybody's business... just yours!") and bought some bikes. A friend of mine from the airport works there and he was very helpful as we picked some out. We got two matching Hard Rock black and yellow bicycles; kind of low end as far as what Al's carries but they're the best bikes either of us have ridden.
We broke the bikes in with a short ride from our house to the edge of Mendon, UT where we turned around and came home. We're excited to use them!

Grandpa S's birthday!

We traveled to Weston this afternoon to celebrate Grandpa S's birthday. We had a fun time seeing family and it was fun to give him a fun theme cake that he enjoyed so much. I finally got to eat one of my cakes, and if I say so myself it was yummy. That makes two this month I've got to eat.


It took time but I finally got my cousin Jason's daughter Bryli to like me, she even road the 4-wheeler with me. I love having cute little cousins to play with, thanks for sharing everyone!

Clinic Party!

My office went to Bear Lake this weekend to Dr. Harris' property on the shore and up St. Charles Canyon camping, it was a lot of fun. I've included a small slide show of our fun adventure. We did have one down point Aaron (the medical student who's been shadowing Dr. Harris) really wanted a fresh raspberry shake with Bear Lake raspberry's but they aren't made out of fresh raspberry's anymore. Sad!! We still had fun!

Late night Mini-Golf

We went mini golfing Saturday night around 10, first we aren't as young as we use to be and this was a little late but we still had a really good time! We were joined by Matthew & Kristin and Steve & Candice

This is the deadly water trap, the ball goes over the little bridge, you mess up you ball really does got down stream and you have to go get a new one! So Mark's trying to stop them


Unfortunately we didn't stop all balls, I lost mine later down the course. Thanks to Kris I got my ball back without having to get another one. Thanks friend!!

We finished our game at 11:40, a little late but we had lots of fun being irresponsible and staying up late!

Happy Birthday Cousin!

We spent Saturday afternoon celebrating Matthew's birthday. Since he is a rocket engineer he got a rocket cake, complete with sparklers!! Axton really enjoyed playing the grass why we all ate yummy cake and ice cream

We gave him a giant croquet set, as you can tell from the pictures below you get to kick the ball through the hoop....it was challenge but a good time.

Back to Childhood...

You could say Mark and I are officially 4 years old again but we absolutely love Curious George, we watch it on KBYU whenever we can. Last night we watched the movie, holy funny! Totally suggest it to anyone who feels like being a kid again.

Marks Exciting News!!

A couple days ago Mark received a letter from USU it said....

Dear Mark,
Congratulations! The College of Engineering is pleased to announce that your outstanding academic performance for Spring Semester, 2008 has earned you a place on the University Honor Roll.

The letter went on...... basically his GPA was above 3.5 with a class load of above 15 graded credits. I am so proud of him!!


He looks a little flushed cause we are both fighting colds but I told him he had to show it off and be proud he worked hard for this honor!

July 4th

Happy Freedom Day!!

Happy 4th of July!! What an amazing country we live in where we can pause to celebrate the fact that we are a free country. Thank you to all the men and women who have sacrificed so much so we can have a free country where we can do as we please!! Hope you all have a wonderful day and stay tuned for posts from our full day of activities....if my camera battery doesn't die.



Waiting for the fireworks to start, we got to just it in our backyard it was great....no traffic to get home we just walked in the house. Than we waited up for Mark's sister Emily to get here, we are so excited she is here!! Well we are off to celebrate the day!!
