This last week

The highlight of Christmas for me was surprising Mark with his very own 12 gauge. Yes I have turned my husband into a country boy, I LOVE IT!


Yesterday on of my closest friends got married in the Salt Lake Temple. We were able to spend the entire day celebrating with them. This wedding was especially tender for us as we didn't know if our Natalie would ever find love after losing Michael, and she did. We are so happy for her and Dallas, we love them both so much!


At the luncheon Dallas and his siblings played an arrangement of songs from My Fair Lady for Natalie, it was so well sigh.


The reception was in one of the old houses by the conference center, it was so charming and the perfect end to the day.

Bridal shower

Today we had a bridal shower for Mark's cousin & I got to make the cake. I am still trying to learn how to write well in frosting but I'll get it eventually.

My Great-Grandma is turning 90 today & I got to make the Birthday cake. I had no idea what to make the design for her but decided everyone loves presents!!

Wednesday we ran away over the mountains & through the woods to our cousins house. We spent the day playing video games, cooking in preparation for Thanksgiving & putting up Christmas lights on their house. When Mark climbed on the roof & Axton told him "bad girl, down" which is what he tells the dog when she's into things she shouldn't be, apparently Mark is not suppose to be on the roof!

Thursday we joined family at Granddad & Grandma's house. The grandsons worked outside helping to get the yard ready for winter, at one point I went out to find Mark, Justin & Landon but couldn't. Refer to the pictures below to see why....crazy boys! Grandma did not disappoint in the wonderfulness of the meal, nor did all those who contributed. I love my family, all of you!

Over the weekend I ran off to Salt Lake to spend time with Natalie at her bridal shower on Friday. It was great to spend time together, and meet all her friends down there. After the shower we had a sleep over, it was like I was living with roommates again!

Saturday Mark joined my and we spent the day with my good life long friend Kelli. Even though we only live 1.5 hours apart we hardly get to see each other so it was such a special treat! We spent lots of time at the mall, even Mark had fun. We found some sexy hates for winter, and at one point in time Kelli had Mark dressed up like he was off on an adventure in Europe. Sadly I forgot to get picture of this but it was great! During our long shopping trip my former roomie Amy & her fiancee Eric showed up for a little while, once again failed at getting a picture, it was great to see her. I think her fiancee might think I am crazy, they showed up as I was buying new boots & he just couldn't understand why I'd by boots to cover them with pants....guys just don't get somethings.

Sunday morning I got up way to early to decorate a cake for my friend. I think it turned our pretty cute, huge thanks to Mark for baking it so i didn't have to get up at like 4am.

Opinions please

Hello blogger friends! I am asking for you opinion in a decision that has proved to be rather difficult to me, which I didn't expect. I am ready to get some kind of home workout equipment (videos are getting repetitive) , I am debating between a treadmill or upright bike. What are you thoughts and experiences with these items? Fried yumminess & the theater

We did something besides work & work, amazing! Having time off (at the same time) is a rare occurrence so when we learned we both had last night off we decided we needed to go a real date!Having a real date requires dinner, of course, Mark had been really wanting Cafe Sabor so we stopped off for dinner. The food was amazing but the best thing we ate was definitely the fried ice cream, this picture does not do it justice! I can't describe how amazing, scrumptious & delectable it was so next time you are in town you'll just have to stop off & try it yourself.As many of you know we love musicals, so when we learned Thoroughly Modern Millie was playing we jumped at the chance to see it. For being a small town there sure is some amazing talent here.

A night at the Opera

That is correct I spent a night at the opera. I was not exactly excited about this, 2-3 hours of people singing in a language I didn't understand didn't sound way fun. However since Emily & James we in the cast I decided it would be okay, I'd do it for them. I tried to get myself all excited to see James singing as a lead & Emily being a chorus girl (just as important as a lead, no chorus & half the songs would've not been awesome) About 10 minutes in, before either of them stepped on stage, I was so into the music I forgot I couldn't understand what they were saying without reading the superscript, which presented a problem when I forgot to read them & suddenly was lost on the story because I was so caught up in what was happening on stage between the singers.
Mark put it best when he said "the music was amazing, the plot so-so" This is very true, the story was odd but the music was so beautiful. So if any of you are in the area this week I suggest you stop by BYU & watch this amazing production! James & Emily did amazing!!!!

Thug Story

Saturday my Dad turned 50! My sister had an awesome idea to surprise him with all the family & grandkids that have adopted my parents. It was a wonderful surprise, he had no idea that everyone was outside when we made him come out to the back patio. I love surprising people. Yes it was a rather cold day for cake & ice cream outside but we partied on, we aren't easily discouraged! I love my dad, he is such a great example of serving & loving those around you! Happy Birthday Dad!

Our friends little boy turned 1 this week & I got to make the Birthday cake! I love making cakes. Thought I'd share the pictures with you all.

Quick peek into the last week

Emily~made a fresh peach cheesecake with the most delicious oatmeal crust, yum! And worked lots of hours around sick people. The cheesecake made it all okay

Also started taking water aerobics with Mom N a few times a week, it was has been really fun. It's a good thing you are underwater however, cause coordination is not a gift. You can say what you will about this being for old people, I don't care because it is wonderful to finish an hour long workout & not have stiff, swollen knees for multiple days!


Mark~ Worked many hours at the boys home plus got in some great flight time with students. On Saturday he got to fly to Wendover for a air/car show and represent the university. They passed out fliers & answered questions people had about the program and tried to escape the heat. It was much warmer there than here!

Trying to hide from the desert sun, it didn't work to well Mark was really sunburned, but he had a fun time. But what pilot wouldn't enjoy a day of flying & seeing lots of airplanes?


Not post would be complete with out a cute picture of Axton, he's just so cute! This was from Sunday when we had dinner together. Today he & Kris came to Logan to hang out & he learned that I am "EM." We were in Hobby Lobby and he would yell Em and look all around till he found me & than stop, so cute!

I love decorating cakes, as most of you know, this last week I finally got to make a few cakes. It seems like I haven't made one in forever, anyway I thought they turned out pretty cute.

worth it?

So as you may recall when my family went to Island Park I had some pretty wicked stomach pain/acid freak-out/wanting to die episodes. Well 10 days ago I met with my gastroenterologist to discuss this thing my body kept doing, I haven't had a full attack since our trip but plenty of little ones that have made life oh so interesting. After discussing things and ruling out Gallbladder problems since I don't have one the inevitable happened I had to schedule an upper endoscopy :(

I've had one of these before and don't really remember it being terrible, so I figured if it helps with the pain I'll go for it. After waiting in the freezing office for an hour in a gown they finally wheeled me back to procedure room where I quickly spoke with the doctor & they gave me "go to sleep" meds in my iv. I don't really have a memory of what happened after that, a few things stuck in my head but most floated away on the anesthesia cloud. My Mom so kindly came down to take me since Mark had to work and you aren't allowed to drive home with anesthesia in your system which I find odd.! She tried to catch me up on what had happened. The scope didn't find any reason for the pain so they took some biopsy's looking for an infection or something & also stretched my esophagus. You are thinking that doesn't sound very pleasant, you are correct! I am just really glad for cepacol spray or I am pretty sure I wouldn't have slept at all last night. I tried to find a picture of dilation of the esophagus but they were all pretty graphic & not I didn't want to make anyone sick so just imagine a balloon going down your throat & stretching it out.

Apparently even on anesthesia I try to work because when I was waking up I kept trying to talk to my dr. I work for about patients & asking my nurse about influenza shots. There was also a conversation about Spanish, I am really glad they see people come out of anesthesia everyday or I'd be really embarrassed for who knows what all I said. But I am wondering if your mind can't even stop working when you are out cold, does that mean you work to hard & need a break?

Well I am off to work for another very long day, should be interesting since I can't actually talk or swallow anything but popsicles so we'll see how the day goes!
FYI this isn't a feel bad for me post I just want to share my yesterday.
