Weekend Escape

We escaped from our house Saturday afternoon, after seeing Dark Knight (loved it!!!), we headed to Weston to spend time with the family. I wasn't very good at taking pictures so you'll have to read about our weekend instead of see it, my family is really sick of me and my camera so I was nice this weekend. We had a wonderful dinner with all fresh fruits & veggies from my parents garden....I love this time of year. Than we headed to Preston with Mike & Jessie for the demoltion derby. I am no expert and derby's but this wasn't so high on my list, the hits just weren't hard and almost didn't seem worth sitting on hard bleachers for that long. We had fun though.
When we were little my Dad loved to take us on Sunday road trips, basically we'd climb in the car and just drive it was always so fun, even if we (the kids) picked at each other. Today he said he wanted to go on a drive so after church we got in the car and drove up Mink Creek ate a yummy lunch and fought the flies & wasps. Instead of heading back down the hill towards home, Dad drove us up Station Creek to see the land of some of Mark's relatives (don't ask for specifics i dunno any), it was really pretty. We had to cut the Sunday drive a little short due to cow milking schedule so Dad milked cows & Mark & I took a nap. Mom & Jessie pickled beets yesterday so we headed to Grandma and Grandpa S' to take them some and visit. While there my cousin Jason and his family showed up. His 1 year old daughter wasn't so sure about Mark, she really liked him from a distance but to close and he got the "look" (see picture) It was fun to spend time with the family and finally get to see Jason and Cami's new baby Mason, he's so adorable! I got to cuddle him for a good long time, I just love the smell of new baby's. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Friday night JOY!

Last night Matthew, Kristin and Axton came to visit, we love when they come over! Even if we end up just sitting and doing nothing its still so fun to be with our closest friends. Axton thought a plastic cup was the great toy, don't worry we were watching so he didn't hurt himself

You may remember the ppphhhh trick my friend Heather taught us when she came to visit, that sounds silly like we are little kids she really just taught us the joy of taking still shots, well we tried it last night with Kris & Matthew here are a few of our still shots, it was hilarious!! I decided Matthews trumpet years helped him create this one of a kind face!

This post is for Mom H she wanted to see my new haircut, well here it is. No I didn't dye it the sun just bleached it that much this summer.

Um Guys...

"Um guys I think the picnic table is on fire...." Those were the words we heard last night about 8:15 when we were playing cards with Matthew & Kristin. This resulted in a somewhat panic situation as we jumped to the window yep the table was definitely on fire. How did this occur one might ask, well we decided to make peach cobbler for a fun desert last night. After placing the coals around and on the dutch oven we went inside to play cards while it cooked, we always cook them on our stands on top of the picnic table so we don't start the grass on fire or something. Well a wind storm happened to pick up and when you combine that and hot coals its just ain't pretty, ours luckily landed the picnic table. We are surrounded by dry fields so it could have been much worse. One of the guys came in and told us, then calmly walked away as we all ran outside to see what was happening. After some quick grabbing of the hose we got it put out, which also made our coals stop cooking so we had to bring the dutch oven inside and stick the whole thing in the oven. The picture doesn't show but there were more flames than this when we walked outside, guess that is what we get for trying to cook in the wind...oh well no one was hurt!

Don't worry as you can see below we still enjoyed it very much!! It was so yummy! Thanks Kristin for getting such yummy peaches and sharing them with us~ Axton entertained himself with his keys while we ate. We than decided to finish our game of hand and foot, they guys won but we had fun anyway. Thanks cousins for such a great night!! Can't wait till next time!!

A New Commercial Pilot

Bragging time- I am now one of the world's newest commercial pilots! (Yeah, this is Mark) I passed my Commercial Checkride this week, doing certain maneuvers for a designated pilot examiner (who, coincidentally, was my father-in-law's varsity scout leader) after spending about three hours being grilled on my knowledge of all things aviation. So, next time you fly commercially... don't look for me, I won't be in the cockpit for a couple years at least. ;) Being a commercial pilot basically allows me to be hired as a pilot by someone (whether a company or just a person who hires me to fly them somewhere) as long as I don't advertise that fact. Legally, I had better include a disclaimer that I am not advertising my services as a pilot in this blog.
It's another step in my progression as I work towards being a professional pilot, and its great to have it done. Hopefully my next step will be to learn to fly multi-engine airplanes.

Final Night

Last night we had Alaina come play with us while Mom & Dad H went to the temple before they flew home to Chicago. We played domino's and watched the Olympic Games. It has been so nice to have them here for the last week, we've enjoyed being able to just run up the road and say hi. We have really enjoyed all the extra time we've got to spend with Alaina!! We love you guys and can't wait to see you in Dec.

Fun Family Time

Yesterday I got to spend a fun day shopping with Mom H, Alaina, Kristin & Axton. While Mark & Dad H went flying. We had lots of fun hanging out together!!

Axton looking as cute as ever! He handles shopping with the girls pretty good as long as we don't ignore him.

After we finished shopping and Mark & Dad landed we met at Sweetly Divine for a yummy treat, we enjoyed wonderful pasteries and had some good laughs.

We than came to our apartment so Mom & Dad could see our house and Axton could kick around for a bit. Nothing like good family times just hanging out being together.
We finished the day by meeting Mom & Dad N, Miles, Jessie, Mom & Dad H and Alaina for a fun dinner at Blackstone. Its so nice to have two families who like each other whenever they can. Thanks for a fun evening everyone!
Ankle update, it was checked again today by a doctor. Just a severe sprain they don't believe its fractured. I just have to be careful and rest it when I can.
