Today my sister and I decided she needed a break from her house so we ventured out in the craziness of Friday afternoon traffic to try the new ice cream place in town. Jess had been to the franchise before but this SUB ZERO thing was a whole new concept to me. It was fascinating, first you get to pick the base for your ice cream, they have 4 or 5 different choices....different cream content, yogurt, custard and soy milk. Having my sensitive stomach I had a soy based ice cream today, it was very yummy. After you pick that you pick the ingredients that should be in your ice cream, at this point everything is in a large silver bowl and resembles something you'd have made in your Mom's kitchen as a child when she wasn't looking. Now it gets intense my friends, after thoroughly mixing this "soup" they blast it with what they call the cryogenic solution which makes it very different from regular ice cream.....and zap you have an ice cream treat created just for you. It was so good, my mouth is watering thinking about it. Maybe Mark & I'll will have to make a trip tomorrow......

Last weekend we ventured up to Mom & Dad N's house for Easter. My Mom & sister got creative this year for an Easter activity; an Egg launch with hard boiled eggs & Annie-I-Over with plastic eggs.
I have a few video's of the activities that I am working on getting up, don't hold your breath. I would like to mention I was the closest to the target for our egg launch. That was as successful as I got during the days activities, I am not a sporty person so trying to catch flying plastic eggs was much harder than launching eggs into the air. Mark was much better than I was. My mom gets the award for the most daring catch, yes ladies & gentlemen she tucked & rolled for an egg....it was awesome! Sadly I didn't have my camera at that point :(

The rest of the week was pretty normal. Until Saturday when we ventured to Provo for Emily D's junior vocal recital, she did amazing! Making this event extra special Dad & Mom H flew in so we got to spend Saturday & Sunday with them. This was the first time we'd seen them since Emily's wedding reception in July so it was great that we were able to get to time to spend with them.
Wait there was something during the week; I sewed my first diaper bag (for a friend), but forgot to take pictures. It turned out pretty good, for a first attempt. I am going to try making another one, hopefully I'll remember to take pictures this time.

I completed sewing project #2 this week, a skirt. I didn't realize I was that tall for a girl or that finding maternity skirts longer than knee length for my size would be as big of a challenge as it has been. I decided that I was just gonna have to make one, I didn't have the heart to ask my mom to make one more thing for me (she has been sewing me scrub tops) so I tried to undertake this adventure without her. I made it part of the way before driving home for help, but mostly I did accomplish this one alone. It is anything fancy just a wrap around skirt that can expand or get smaller if need be. Realize this picture was taken after nursery so my skirt is a little wrinkled, what else do expect after playing on the ground for 2 hours & holding crying kids. It was really comfy and no problems with showing things about my knee! Now just to make another so I have more than one option. Thanks Mom for the help!

Other news in our life, we had our first kid throw-up in nursery today. Nope he wasn't sick just way beyond mad that his parents actually left him & didn't come back when he cried. We've been struggling to get him to stay alone since January & today didn't help in the battle. Poor Mark was holding the kid when he decided he was gonna cry & throw up. I wasn't much help, all I could do was find the bishop & see how we were suppose to handle the mess. Luckily the Mom cleaned it up, if I would have tried there would have been 2 messes.
I am announcing the SPRING is here, yes I realize it is March & we will probably have snow in our valley this week but we pulled our dutch oven out today are cooking Potatoes as I type this for dinner. Hopefully they are good as they smell & look! Since I am not cooking in a dutch oven in Winter I am saying it's Spring.

Should have listened the first time.....

When I was younger I was in sewing 4-H, not to brag but I was actually okay at it winning one of the big ribbons one year. When I started to "grow up" I guess I decided this was an unnecessary skill to remember. Boy was I wrong. As I have been expanding my clothes have been shrinking, buy new clothes is always but having to buy 2 new wardrobes is a bit expensive so my wonderful Mom has been helping me with this problem. She has sewn me 3 really cute scrub tops about 1/2 the cost of buying one & in the process has retaught me to sew, she is a very patient woman for doing this I have many questions & lots of unpicking that is usually done. I have to admit I did not do all the sewing on this top, I ran out of time before I had to leave her house, but I did about 3/4 of it. I am hoping to continue relearning this skill. Now that I am a little more "grown up" I see it really is necessary!

I don't know how many of you listen to 96.7 on the radio, on Friday mornings they always play the song Finally Friday. Usually it's a whatever it's Friday another week past moment when I hear it, but I must tell you today that song was the best sounds as I was getting ready. This week was one of those where everyday felt like Monday and I really didn't want it to only be Monday. I am so happy it's Friday and not only is the SUN is shining but I'm off to play in Brigham with cousins and see my hubby for the first time since Wed. Good day! The week may have been long but it sure makes today that much sweeter! Hope you all have a great Friday!

Kitchen Windows

I have always loved having a window over the kitchen sink to look out while doing dishes & working on dinner, it just makes the task seem less tasky (if that is a word). In our new place we do have a window over our sink, sadly the view hasn't been much. Somehow we ended up having to overlook the crazy guys back yard with junk (ex:old cars, wood, rv's, pipes) occasionally there will be a few delinquent teenagers back there and who really wants to look at them! As the weather has warmed and Mr. Sunshine has stayed out later at night I have had the blinds open at night while making dinner. Tonight I just happened to glance up from washing potatoes (unusual because of the lack of scenery) in time to see 3 brothers playing football in their backyard. Yes I am sure they were fighting & annoyed at the 5 or 6 year old trying to play but it still just brought a smile to my face. It made me miss being young and running around after school in a jacket not a winter parka when it would get warm, begging my parents to put up the tramp and counting the days till we could go swim at the pond and not get hypothermia. I am very happy today that I live in a place with a kitchen window, without this simple square of glass I never would have ventured down that memory lane today and I sure like memory lane.
